Ron Teiwes

Ron Teiwes
(December 30, 1943 - August 24, 2009)
Ronald W. Teiwes, age 65, a resident of Wheaton, died Monday, August 24 at Central Du Page Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1943 in Oak Park to Alfred and Elisabeth Teiwes.

Ron graduated from Proviso East High School and Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. He worked in the banking industry for over 30 years and was Executive Vice-President of First Security Bank of Wood Dale. In recent years he has owned and operated Remington Builders, building homes in the western suburbs.

One of his passions was fishing on Lake Michigan. He served as Secretary of Salmon Unlimited. Ron's strong devotion to his Christian faith led him to travel many times to Costa Rica with Men's International Missions working on school building projects at La Palabra de Vida. Ron volunteered with the Billy Graham Telephone Ministry. He faithfully attended College Church and Bethel Presbyterian Church in Wheaton. He was also an avid fan of Wheaton College sports.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan M. Teiwes, nee Muzzy, two sons, Jeff Teiwes of Deerfield, and Mark (Becky) Teiwes of Somerville, MA, two brothers, Harry (Margaret) Teiwes of Wheaton and David (Marilyn) Teiwes of Richland Center, WI, one sister, Ruth Teiwes of Carol Stream, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m. at College Church, Seminary and Washington St. in Wheaton. Interment will be held privately at Wheaton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Men's International Missions, PO Box 555, Wheaton, IL 60187-0555, College Church, or Bethel Presbyterian Church.

We will all miss you Ron.

June 13th update.

Dear Friends of LPDV,

Attached you will find two recent pictures of the K-P building progress.

Omar, Julio, and Ricardo have gotten some help recently from my nephews
David, Zach, and Cody Franklin (my sister Cathy and brother-in-law
Rick's boys). They did a lot of hauling gravel fill into the
classrooms. Julio has plastered all of the interior walls in the
classrooms, and Omar and his son-in-law Ricardo have put up the
corridor roof.

We also enjoyed a visit from Ray and Sigrid Corson, who first came down
this January with the Loveland Colorado team. Ray did a lot of work to
get internet access in the library for both teachers and students,
along with setting up teacher computers with printer in the cubicles.
He also mapped out the entire LPDV computer network which will be
extremely useful for trouble-shooting when things don't work. In
addition to helping Ray, Sigrid helped short-termer Heather King with
elementary science classes, and applied spine labels and card pockets
to books in the library. She also humored 2 1/2 year old Natalia by
reading Snow White and Green Eggs and Ham multiple times.

We look forward to hosting=2
0MIM teams from Colorado and Wheaton again in
January. They will put the finishing touches on the early-education
building, getting it ready to be used for the first time in the 2010
school year.

Thanks for your prayers and support for the LPDV ministry!

Update from LPDV 15 Feb.2009

Dear MIM guys,
Here is a picture update of how the K-P building is progressing. Omar, Julio, and Ricardo say "hola."
I’ll probably send another update in a couple weeks showing the roof mostly in place.
Here is some other good news:
1- The first week of the 2009 school year is now history. We are fully staffed except for a science teacher in the elementary school.
2- We have an enrollment of over 350 students!!! This is above projection and means that the school will be
within its budget again for this school year.
3- The first lab test came back: the well water is 100% potable! (See picture of it gushing into the tank on the top of the hill.
No leaks on the way up, of course!)
4- I am very much enjoying teaching the senior Bible class. It does come with a greater sense of responsibility
(it bothers me a little if they don’t like my science classes, but I really want them to enjoy the study of God’s word.)
Ninth grade biology is getting a good start as well. Thanks for the books, Wes, and for covering them, Colorado team.
5-Having Josh Meyer here to teach 7th, 8th, and 10th grade science in English is a huge help.
I would be out-of-my-mind busy if I still had all of that on my plate .
THANK YOU for coming down to help the LPDV ministry, for your fellowship,
and for your continued prayers that God would use this place for his purposes
in the lives of our students and their families.
In Christ,
Matt Befus
